| | At the side of his bed, she placed her small hand on top of his arm.
"Grandpa?"
(. . .)
"Grandpa? Wake up," she said.
He lay there, deeply breathing, in and out. Even at the call of her soft, sweet voice, he didn't move a flinch.
"Wake up, Grandpa. Wake up," his 5 year old granddaughter repeated.
As I set up some equipment at the table on the opposite side of the bed, I just stood there. Watching quietly, my heart wrenching inside my chest.
"Grandpa...?" she said his name again.
I sighed.
How do I tell a 5 year old her Grandpa may never wake up?
How can I just stand here and watch this?
